The International Olympics Committee announced a new sport will be making its debut at the 2016 games in Rio.
Carrying All Groceries in One Trip, or Food Carry for short, has cleared the approval process and is now an official Olympic event.
The sport, comprised mainly of suburban American men, has been pushing for validation of their craft for years. But it wasn’t until Kroger became an official sponsor of the Olympics that Food Carry gained traction as a real sport.
Dan Dorf, the head of the U.S. Food Carry Team felt the move was long overdue. “When you see how hard these guys train, climbing steps with bags up to their collar bones and shutting car doors with their feet – you have to respect their athleticism. And besides, if Curling is a sport, then Food Carry certainly is too,” Dan said.
