President Obama does not take crap from reporters. When CBS’s Major Garrett asked the President, “Can you tell the country, sir, why you are content with all the fanfare around this deal to leave the conscience of this nation, the strength of this nation unaccounted for in relation to these four Americans?” referring to four Americans still held as prisoners in Iran, Obama came back to scold the reporter saying, “You should know better.” Worse, after the scolding, the President told Major Garrett, “And no dessert for a month!”
Garrett was shocked by the punishment. No one in the press room has ever been denied dessert for so long. A month is a long time for a reporter, especially when Thursdays are banana pudding cups. Major Garrett loves banana pudding cups.
In his response Major Garrett admitted his question may have dug too deep, but no dessert for a month seemed ridiculous. “I have a sweet tooth I need to satisfy. Obama is being a big meanie face.”
